Copyright 2010

A major problem that accompanies being overweight is that your blood cholesterol levels often increase dramatically. Cholesterol forms deposits in your arteries, causing them to clog or completely blocking them altogether. This cuts off blood circulation and oxygen from your heart, and can lead to heart attacks, stroke or any number of other cardiovascular problems. So, to protect yourself from this problem and decrease your health risk, you need to get on a weight loss regimen as soon as possible.

Weigh Loss Vs Medications

Although cholesterol medications are more widely prescribed and used these days, weight loss remains the best option for controlling your cholesterol. Compare, for example, the chances of success of both medicines and weight loss methods. Studies have proved that medicines can lower cholesterol by 20% – 60% whereas losing weight ensures you of a 40% – 90% decrease in your cholesterol levels.

In addition, drugs can only perform one function at a time, i.e. they can either lower your LDL (Low-density lipoprotein ), which is the harmful form of cholesterol, or control fats called ‘triglycerides’ in your blood. On the other hand, weight loss lowers triglycerides and raises the levels of HDL (High-density lipoprotein), the necessary (good) cholesterol, in your blood.

Healthy Eating: The Best Weight Loss Method

There are so many ways through which you can reduce your weight. However, exercise may be tough to manage with your hectic schedule (although you should still find time to do it), and strict diets can be tiresome and unhealthy. Yet, if you want fast weight loss without spending much money or effort, the best way to do so is to eat healthy.

Here are some ideas you can use:

Add more fiber to your diet: Eat oatmeal, wholegrain bread and fruits. They provide you with loads of fiber in every meal, and besides helping you in your weight loss, they will also help your cholesterol levels to plunge quickly.

Include legumes into your meals: Beans, lentils, chickpeas and other legumes will help you lose weight and reduce your cholesterol levels. You can have them in soups, snacks and salads.

Substitute regular oil with olive oil: If you need to add oil to your food or to use it in cooking, then make sure to use virgin olive oil. However, to keep your cholesterol low and your weight loss efforts uninterrupted, limit your consumption to two tablespoons only each day.

Consume more fish: Fish is a great option for those who want to lose weight! It’s rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which will help lower your blood pressure and bring your cholesterol levels down.

Snack on nuts whenever you get hungry: Most snacks people consume include a lot of hydrogenated oils (not to mention loads of sugar). Rather than munching on chips and other fattening foods, have a handful of nuts to fill your stomach and keep you and your cholesterol levels in shape.

So, if you want to regulate your cholesterol, make the decision to start losing weight. And to get the best results of all, make sure that your weight loss plan is based on eating healthy.

Copyright 2010

Healthy weight loss is not always a first choice among dieters. Nearly everyone you know has tried some sort of diet at some time or other. Many of them may have lost weight, and some may have lost it quickly. But, when they grew tired of the diet and returned to their previous eating habits, they gained back all the weight, and sometimes more.

Sadly, this is a common result of dieting. But it does not have to be. The reason why diets don’t work is because they are only a temporary solution. Diets are not weight loss plans.

Diets are a temporary solution. Most diets are designed with the emphasis on quick weight loss rather than helping you to lose weight and keep it off over the long term. Some weight loss diets are more extreme than others, and most are not very healthy. Diets are not designed as a way for you to eat for the rest of your life. You may lose weight, often you will lose weight, initially. But at what expense to
your health and well-being? Why work hard following a diet only to gain back the fat and weight you lost, and often even more when you return to your regular eating habits?

Diets are often restrictive in design. Most often, diets effect weight loss by narrowly focusing on and controlling a small number of factors related to your intake of food and calories. The weight loss formula is very simple. You have to take in (eat) less calories than you burn, OR you have to burn more calories (food converted to energy) than you take in. Either way, you lose weight.

The problem with most diets is that they simply aim to restrict or narrow your intake of food. This is not normal when compared to a healthy balanced eating plan, and its not how your body is designed to function. Sooner or later, your body craves what it is missing, rebels against the regime of eating less and/or you tire of the routine of eating precious few types of foods. Eventually, it gets to be too much for you and you quit dieting.

Diets can slow your metabolism. Metabolism is the rate at which your body burns energy (food). If your goal is to lose weight, you want to increase your metabolism. Diets can actually slow your metabolism by restricting your intake of food. When your body is deprived of food, it goes into “starvation mode” and works to conserve energy (slowing down so as not to use so much energy) and to store energy for future use (fat). This is the exact opposite of what you are attempting to achieve and what you need to happen to effect weight loss.

For years, people have been misled about the truth of dieting. Fad and gimmick diets don’t work to achieve lasting results. You’re told to eat less when you need to eat more. You’re often made to follow a regimen that restricts you to very few foods in extremely small quantities. You’ll either be forced to suppress hunger, or you’ll have hunger episodes and binge eating will most likely result. You’re told to count calories, which is the opposite of what you should do. Simply put, diets don’t work over the long term. In order to lose weight and fat and keep it off, you need a plan you can follow permanently.

So, we’ve now established just a few of many reasons why diets don’t work. What does work is a long-term weight loss solution and plan. If you’ve tried a number of diets without achieving success, it may be hard for you to believe, but you can lose weight and body fat, and keep it off permanently. You can do it without starving yourself or restricting yourself to eating foods you don’t like.

If your desire is to lose weight permanently, you will be more successful when you follow a nutritious eating plan that allows you to eat the foods you like and in sufficient quantities to satisfy your hunger.

The best weight loss plan is one that is easy to follow, produces real results quickly, and consists of foods that are or can become a part of your normal eating routine. And by the way, it is not necessary to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars for mail order or specialty foods to lose weight.

A suitable weight loss plan considers health aspects as well. The right plan will help build up and strengthen your body, allowing you to combat and eliminate such conditions as high cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

If you really want to lose weight and live healthily, you need a weight loss plan that is focused on your health and well-being, and that works with your lifestyle. You need a simple and easy to follow plan that doesn’t require you to take a course just to understand how to follow it.

Many individuals don’t experience healthy weight loss. The reason why diets don’t work is because so many of them are money-making gimmicks. But, you can lose weight, burn fat and keep it off using the proper diet solution.

The Diet Solution Program is a powerful program for naturally achieving successful weight loss. It was developed by Isabel De Los Rios who suffered from weight issues early in life, and was considered predisposed to diabetes because of her family history. Through her own careful research, Isabel created an awesome weight loss system which promotes health and well-being, and helps to combat problematic, unhealthy conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

How Does It Work?

The Diet Solution Program works by giving you the knowledge and tools you need to turn your body into a fat-burning machine. It is not so much a diet as it is a means of changing your behaviors and eating habits for life. It does not promote extreme, short-term weight loss, but a healthy, well-balanced diet and lifestyle for the long-term. But don’t let that fool you. You’ll lose pounds within just the first week of using this program, and within your first two weeks, you’ll lose both pounds and inches!

What About Results?

For nearly 10 years now, The Diet Solution Program has consistently proven its effectiveness to weight loss skeptics (as you may be), with sometimes stunning results. Isabel first used her exclusive system for her personal 30-pound weight loss. Then she applied it to family members with weight problems and health issues, who had wonderful results. Since those early days, thousands of individuals have experienced great results of their own.

Who’s Using This?

Individuals with lifelong weight problems, nutrition issues, chronic illnesses, and even weight gain due to injury have used Isabel’s system, lost weight and got healthy. The program is even flexible enough to accommodate individuals with certain food allergies. For example, if you’re allergic to protein sources such as eggs or peanuts, you can still successfully use this program for weight loss and develop a healthy, nutritional lifestyle.

Is It Complicated?

Okay, so far everything sounds peachy, but what you really want to know is “How hard is this?”

One of the chief reasons that people fail to reach their weight goals is that the diet or weight loss program they’re using is unrealistic, too complicated or hard to incorporate into everyday living. Not so with The Diet Solution Program. This system incorporates foods that are easily found at your local grocery, supermarket and health food stores. It’s “everyday food” that you can find at a reasonable cost, and that you can prepare quickly and easily in your own kitchen. There is no calorie counting. No buying shakes, supplements or ‘food bars’.

Effective weight loss is not rocket science. In fact, it really is very simple when you apply the right knowledge and tools. And because of the way it’s designed, this program naturally helps you to simplify the way you prepare daily meals.

Is It Crazy (Extremely) Restrictive?

Absolutely not! As stated earlier, The Diet Solution Program is a nutrition and weight loss system the basic principles of which are designed for you to use for the rest of your life. Can you envision a life of eating no fats, no meats (or only meats), and no carbs? Or, worse yet, nearly starving yourself on ridiculously small portions of food you don’t even like?

Some can, but they’re in the minority. It’s simply unrealistic to expect that most people on a Western (American) diet would be willing or able to adhere to such extremes over more than a short time span. Besides that, it’s not healthy. Your optimum health is based on the benefits of balanced nutrition. Dietary regimens that are extremely restrictive may produce weight loss results in the short term, but are certainly not healthy or practical over the long term.

The Diet Solution Program quickly teaches you how to lose weight naturally, eating ‘good fats’ and ‘good carbohydrates’, by eliminating bad sugars and processed foods, and learning to prepare sumptuous meals using the right combinations of foods together to promote your body’s own fat-burning potential.

Do you feel sluggish and tired, or are you energetic and always on-the-go? In this day and age of sedentary lifestyles and processed food, many people want to not only lose weight, but feel energized and revitalized like they did when they were younger. If this sounds like you, the solution is fortunately very simple: your metabolism, or the rate you burn energy, likely needs a boost. A few simple dietary changes can not only give you more energy for the day, but over time, will help your body function at its peak efficiently. These top eight foods that speed metabolism are readily available at any grocery store:

1.) Eggs. Eggs offer some of the highest quality proteins available and therefore make an excellent breakfast to kickstart your day. Their versatility allows you to incorporate them into many dishes – no matter how you choose to prepare them.

2.) Salmon. Wild salmon is one of the healthiest fish available, and if you have the budget, should be consumed at least twice a week. Salmon is loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids that control leptin, the hormone in your body responsible for storing energy. The lower amount of leptin you have, the less fat you will store. Salmon is one of the best foods around to control this hormone level.

3.) Rolled Oats. Mix rolled oats with whey protein and flaxseed for an ultra-nutritious breakfast that will carry you through the day. The complex carbohydrates and fiber will fuel your metabolism because oatmeal takes awhile for the stomach to digest, thus keeping insulin levels low and allowing you to feel energetic longer before your next meal.

4.) Almonds. The essential fatty acids in almonds are excellent for upholding a swift, healthy metabolism. Eating just a handful will go a long way, as almonds have a very high caloric and protein content.

5.) Natural Yogurt. Yogurt will not only give you the necessary protein and carbohydrates to jumpstart your day, but the live probiotics will speed metabolism by regulating your digestive tract. Eat a cup of plain or vanilla yogurt in the morning with an apple, a fiber-filled fruit.

6.) Spinach. Spinach is chock-full of nutrients for your body: antioxidants, magnesium, vitamin C, potassium and iron. Next time you go for a salad, swap the Caesar salad for a spinach-and-strawberry salad, complete with onions, peppers, cucumbers and olives.

7.) Coffee. Experts often disagree whether the pros outweigh the cons, but consuming coffee is beneficial so long as you do so in moderation. Recent evidence shows that coffee can not only strengthen your heart and stave off cancer, you can add coffee to your list of foods that speed metabolism. Tip: Consuming a cup of java about 30 minutes before a workout will give you an extra energy boost in your workout – and thus will help you burn calories.

8.) Water. Okay, water isn’t really a food, but make sure you drink plenty of water. The old advice used to be to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. That’s changed over the years, but the basic principle has not. Your body is mostly made from water. Not only will it enhance your body’s ability to absorb the nutrients you take in, but it also helps your body flush out toxins and the free radicals responsible for illness and premature aging. Keep your water cold. Cold water feels more refreshing, and your body will burn as much as 100 extra calories to restore its natural body temperature.

These are just a few examples of foods that speed metabolism. There are certainly more. For a program that will help you to learn more about and utilize these types of foods in your efforts to lose weight, click here.

The scope of this article describes three natural methods to lose weight – the first method is a very simple concept that should be adopted for the long run for most people. The second method is ideal for those looking to go completely au natural. The third is to be applied only a few times a year at max, but successful completion can bring about many drastic positive changes to your life. Below are three methods to lose weight naturally and in a healthy way;

1.) The easiest method to lose weight is by simply adopting a healthy lifestyle and developing good habits. This means eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes (seeds, beans and nuts), dairy and lean meats for protein. Eating a wide variety ensures that you get all the nutrients you need, while limiting consumption of excess sugar, alcohol, deep-fried foods and saturated fats. Combine such a diet with at least 20-30 minutes of exercise a day, such as walking, swimming, running, dancing, kickboxing or anything else that requires you to move physically and engages your interest.

2.) For another natural weight loss method, some people choose to lose weight by starting an exercise regimen. As human beings, we need regular physical exercise to stay healthy and fit. But exercise in combination with a diet is also needed to burn calories, and to lose weight we have to burn more calories than we take in. Through the ages, the average human’s diet has changed from earth-based (raw fruits and vegetables and organically raised meat) to chemically processed. The fruits and vegetables we eat today are mostly farmed with pesticides and other man-made chemicals. And of course our meat sources are raised on a variety of antibiotics and chemical enhancers. All of these work together in ways that make it more difficult for our bodies to naturally process our food in a way that helps us to maintain a healthy weight. We must exercise more, and more efficiently, to maintain and lose weight.

<p margin-bottom: 10px;>3.) Done right, fasting is an excellent measure to take to lose weight naturally. Fasting means not consuming solid food for a day or more, instead taking in freshly squeezed juice, water or tea. Just as we need the occasional day off from work, the digestive system needs a break as well. Fasting for a couple days two or three times a year is a natural means of weight loss, as it helps to flush out toxins and keep your system revitalized. Use caution, however – there are different ways to fast, and some are healthier than others, so it is important to do your homework and check with a qualified herbalist, dietitian or medical professional before beginning any fasting program.

Often times women who have just given birth are anxious to get back to their pre-pregnancy weight. While this goal is well understood, losing weight while breastfeeding is a delicate process – wait at least 6 weeks after birth to start any doctor-approved weight-loss program. After this time, here are a few simple but powerful tips for a safe breastfeeding diet.

1.) Limit alcohol intake. Not only does alcohol get into breast milk, alcohol consumption can hinder any efforts made to lose weight. Alcoholic drinks not only contain a lot of calories, but excessive consumption can disturb sleep – which is essential to any weight loss plan.

2.) Get some sleep! You’ll need all the energy you can get while raising a child, and there’s no better source of energy than sufficient deep sleep. Sleep is vital to good health, peak energy levels and maximum productivity, and thus will aid your breastfeeding diet. Moreover, generally speaking, studies show that women who get 7 or more hours of sleep a night tend to weight less than those who only sleep 5 hours or so per night. While it was originally thought that sleep directly affects hormones that control appetite, thus causing women to eat more, it actually turns out that women who sleep less, eat less, and still gain weight. The cause of this is unclear, but theories abound that sleep changes may affect the number of calories burned while resting, or those who sleep less tend to also move less, thus burning fewer calories.

3.) Do some light exercising. Fortunately for nursing women, breastfeeding alone burns approximately 600 calories a day. Combine with walking or a workout video a few times a week until you get into a routine. Of course, you should only begin an exercise program once your doctor tells you it’s okay to do so.

4.) Eat a well-balanced diet. For optimum health for both you and your baby, it is absolutely imperative that you eat a well-balanced diet incorporating a variety of foods. This means eating approximately five servings of both fruits and vegetables a day, as well as whole grains, nuts, seeds, dairy and lean meats. If you can’t or don’t consume animal products, it is important to take a calcium supplement and to make sure you get a proper amount of protein.

Keep in mind that it will likely take 10 months to a year to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. It is inadvisable to attempt to lose weight in a quicker time frame, as rapid weight loss releases the toxins stored in body fat cells into the bloodstream. These toxins will, in turn, get into the milk supply and can damage your baby’s health. Fortunately, many women find that they tend to lose weight naturally, so you will not need to worry about putting in excessive amounts of effort.
